The national weather service has issued a red flag warning which includes the entirety of the West Douglas County Fire Protection District. The details of this warning are attached and conditions are expected to remain dangerous with a high likelihood of fire throughout the day.
As a result, by order of the West Douglas County Fire Protection District Chief there is to be no open burning of any kind within our district boundaries.
This includes recreational fires, burn barrels, tiki torches, chimineas and so on.
Use of outdoor cooking appliances is not affected and therefore not restricted.
Any and all fires found to be in violation of this restriction will be immediately extinguished by the West Douglas County Fire Protection District per this order. This order is to be lifted at 8:00 a.m. December 31, 2024 unless otherwise announced.
